Theo Paphitis hosted hundreds of small businesses at his annual Small Business Sunday (#SBS) event in Birmingham, on Friday February 3rd, at the International Convention Centre. All #SBS winners were invited to attend the free annual event to be inspired, network, hear from the man himself and other guest speakers and have an opportunity to learn from a huge variety of business experts.
The six #SBS sponsors Ryman, Robert Dyas, Red Letter Days, 123Reg, iLaw and DHL were all in attendance, giving the attendees the opportunity to ‘Meet the Experts’ in one-to-one sessions, visit their stands and network with like-minded winners. 123Reg also held workshops throughout the day on creating great content for your social media, the seven essential steps in SEO and a digital marketing trouble shoot session. PR expert Tina Fotherby, from Famous Publicity, was also at the ICC and shared her knowledge on how to best promote a business.
Theo talked to the businesses about his take on 2016, including going through the results of an #SBS Brexit survey that was recently run in the group. 55% of those surveyed had a positive outlook on future trade opportunities.
The event was also treated to a presentation from #SBS winner, Jodine Boothby of Gummee, who shared her story of how she overcame bankruptcy and reached a £1.2m sales point, stocking her baby product at the likes of Toys R Us and Argos.
To complete the day, the #SBS winners had almost two hours of business advice and a quickfire Q&A session from Theo and his guests JML’s John Mills and fellow dragon Deborah Meaden, with some fantastic questions on how to progress their business to the next level.
